The Food & Beverage Services sector will need 44,300 new workers in BC in the next 10 years. The 2010 Winter Games will result in the creation of an additional 62,825 jobs in tourism-related sectors.
The BC Government has a two-year project aimed at recruiting foreign workers in the tourism and hospitality industries.
The project will help these industries retain workers that they recruit internationally by a fast track access for permanent residency application. Spouses and dependents are also eligible for permanent residence under the program.
Occupations eligible include food and beverage servers, tour guides, hotel front desk clerks, food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and housekeepers.
