The Certificate in Business English (BEC) helps reinforce the communication ability of students in a business context. This course was developed through the University of Cambridge and is internationally recognized. With the help of work-related situations and exercises, the course assesses reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. This course is designed for students who need to use English in the context of international business.

| Course Content |
This course covers a variety of topics relevant to the current business market. These include, company structure, communication at work, advertising and promotion, business ethics, recruitment and training and customer service. Students study reading, writing, communication, and structure as a part of this integrated course.

| Afternoon Electives |
Students registered in the Certificate in Business English (24 hours per week) choose one elective in the afternoon. The Business English or TOEIC electives are recommended for those who want to reinforce the skills and structures learned in the am class. Students also have the option to focus on other specific skills if they so desire. Other elective classes include: Communication, Current Events and Media, Grammar, Pronunciation, Vocabulary Building, Writing, and TOEFL.

| This Program runs for 8 and 12 weeks with set start dates. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared and eligible to write the Cambridge Business English Certificate Exam. This certificate is recognized internationally as a standard for proficiency in Business English. |

All instructors are university graduates with specialized ESL teacher training in addition to having met the requirements of the Canada Language Council.
Teacher Profile - Jeff Shaughnessy
Jeff Shaughnessy holds an MBA from the London School of Economics as well as TESL certification through Cambridge University (CELTA). He has worked as a VP of Sales and also ran his own business for several years. He brings to the classroom an unending energy in addition to his creative approach to teaching Business English. Jeff has worked and taught both locally and overseas and brings to CCEL a wealth of experience. |
