Background to the University Foundation Program (GAC) |
The University Foundation Program (GAC) is a university preparation program taught and measured in English that will provide motivated students with the skills and academic knowledge to gain entry into one of many selected Pathway Universities in Canada, New Zealand, USA, UK, and Australia. The GAC has established a reputation for quality and reliability through excellent programs and renowned quality assurance and management processes. Students graduate confident that they are well prepared for the independent learning, research methodologies and cross cultural awareness required to study at one of the English-medium Pathway Universities.
The Special Partnership
The University Foundation Program (GAC) is offered at The Canadian College of English Language through a partnership with American College Testing (ACT) Education Solutions Limited, a newly created company owned by ATC, based in Iowa, USA. ACT is known worldwide for its highly-respected educational programs. This partnership is built on a mutual realization that international students need not only the English ability to attend universities in English speaking countries, but also specific academic skills to succeed in their studies.
The Pathway

Pathway Universities
All of these Pathway Universities have reviewed the curriculum of the GAC and are interested in attracting GAC students to their campuses. By design, the Pathway Universities are geographically, academically, and financially diverse, ranging from rural to urban, from highly selective to moderately selective, from specialized to comprehensive, and from very expensive to moderately expensive. As each university has its own admissions requirements in addition to the student visa requirements of the country in which it is located, there is no single standard that applies to all of our Pathway Universities. However, the Pathway Universities are united in one principle: they wish to attract the best students they can from throughout the world. Students who have completed the GAC will inevitably have a better chance of both admissions into and success at these universities.
