English programs designed to improve overall competency in English. These programs are intended to prepare students for exam courses such as Cambridge and TOEFL, university pathways, career advancement, or for personal interest.

| Course Content |
| In the morning students study general English. There are six levels, from Elementary to Upper Advanced. The New Headway textbook (Oxford University Press) is used for Elementary to Upper Intermediate classes and the Cambridge Masterclass textbook is used for the Advanced and Upper Advanced classes (FCE, CAE, CPE). Students study reading, writing, communication, and structure as a part of this integrated course. |
| Afternoon Electives |
Students registered in the Intensive Program (24 hours per week) choose one elective in the afternoon while those students registered in the Super Intensive Program (30 hours per week) choose two electives in the afternoon. Electives are specialized classes which allow students to focus on specific skills or needs. Elective classes include: Communication, Current Events and Media, Business English, Grammar, Pronunciation, Vocabulary Building, Writing, TOEFL, and TOEIC.

| Length |
| Each semester is 12 weeks in length and there are set starting and ending dates as outlined in this website. After successful completion of one semester students receive the certificate and after successful completion of two semesters they receive the diploma. |

| The Teachers |
All instructors are university graduates with specialized ESL teacher training and overseas experience.
Teacher Profile - Kim Pilger
Kim Pilger received his Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in 2001. As a part of his degree program, he lived and worked in Mexico, Guatemala and Fiji. He has travelled and lived in 15 different countries and studied 5 different languages. He received his diploma in TESOL from Vancouver Community College in the spring of 2003. Since then he has taught at 3 different ESL schools in Vancouver. Kim has been teaching at CCEL since the spring of 2004. Although he teaches primarily at the intermediate and upper intermediate levels, he has taught all levels including specific skills classes in Pronunciation, TOEFL, Business and Writing. Kim enjoys travelling, studying different cultures and languages, and playing the piano and guitar. His future plans include travelling around the world and completing his Master’s degree in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. |
