Frequently asked Questions (FAQ)
These are the frequently asked Questions (FAQ) for our BEWS Internship Program. If you have a question about the program that you do not find in the FAQs, please contact us.

What kind of visa will I need?
You will need a work permit. The most widely used work permit for internships is the C30 Work and Study Permit. This is for students whose intended employment forms an integral part of their course of study offered by Career colleges or language schools. This is open to people from any country but you must get this visa before you come to Canada.

Students from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland may come to Canada for a paid internship with a ‘Youth Mobility Visa’ or a ‘Young Workers Exchange Visa’. This will allow them to do an internship in their field of studies. For more information on visas please contact us or check on Immigration Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-coop.asp

Can I work while I am studying?
No. You can do your internship at the end of your academic studies.

When will I start working?
If you meet all criteria of the BEWS program, we will find you a paid work position within 8 to 10 weeks before completing your academic program.

Can I do an internship anywhere in Canada?
No. Internships are available in the Greater Vancouver Area. If you are interested in working in other parts of Canada you may want to consider joining our Working Holiday program.

Can I choose my company?
Yes and no. During the placement process we will send you a list of possible host companies - you can choose from these or suggest alternatives. However we cannot guarantee placement with any specific company.

How many interviews will I go to?
Most students pass their first interview. But if you do not pass your interview you can go to a maximum of four interviews. If you fail all four interviews we will ask you to reconsider your internship options or we will refund 20% of your job placement fee and remove you from the internship program.

What happens if I don’t like my internship?
Many people have problems when they first start their internship. They have difficulty adapting or fitting in. In these situations we work with the company and the student to make the transition is smooth. In situations where there is a genuine personality conflict or where the internship promised by the host company is significantly different from what is delivered, we will consider re-placement with another company (at no additional charge).

However, if we locate a company for you that matches your requirements you must accept it regardless of size or location.

Can I quit an internship?
Yes. However there will be no refund and no certificate given to people who quit their internship host company.

When do I have to pay my fees?
When you fill out the Application form you must pay the non-refundable CAN $300 application fee. We will not process any applications until we receive the non-refundable application fee. You must pay a minimum CAN $2,500 (or the full amount) to reserve your place and receive our institution's Letter of Acceptance. All fees are due BEFORE beginning classes.
