4. Building: Large private language school in Vancouver Downtown with its unique and exclusive 4 floor building and 30 classrooms, with a capacity of 450-500 students in total. Classrooms on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Offices on the 4th floor. Large rooftop garden on the 5th floor.

5. Years of Operation: Established in 1991.

6. Member of: Canada Language Council(CLC); PELSA; ALTO; AILIA; FIYTO; Tourism Vancouver

7. Staff and Advisors: 15 full time (some of the languages covered: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Polish, Russian, German, Turkish, etc)

8. Teachers: 35 full and part time English teachers. All native speakers. All HAVE strong background in teaching International Students, University Equivalent Degrees plus TESOL Canada Level I or equivalent certification.
Facilities at School
1. Computer Labs: 30 computers free of charge for CCEL students. High speed wireless internet service free of charge. Variety of language options.

2. Other Facilities: Beautiful and large rooftop garden patio on 5th floor. Student Lounge (as of July 2008). Student Restaurant & Pub (as of July 2008). Lunch & Rest areas throughout the school, Big Screen TV, Microwaves, Public Phones, Student Counselling Room, and Wheelchair friendly access.

General English Program

Homestay for Students
1. Coordinator at School: In-house full-time homestay & accommodation coordinator

2. Homestay Profile: Long-term, safe, middle/upper class, convenient Host Families. Majority located in the prestigious West and North Vancouver areas. Families interviewed up to twice a year and screened for quality of service provided to our students.

3. Meals per week? 14 meals(half-board) or 21-meals(full-board)

4. Transportation to/from School: Average 30-40 minutes to School, depending on traffic and location of homestay

5. Nearest Major Station from School: Burrard Station (bus terminal/subway station). 2 minutes walk.

6. Average Cost of Public Transportation (valid for bus, skytrain and seabus): One way ticket @ CAD$2.50 ~ $3.50. Monthly passes are available.

7. Cost for extra night at homestay? Average Can$30-45, depending on room and meal type
CCEL Student Residence for CCEL students
The Canadian College Student Residence /Apartments are excellent furnished apartments in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The apartments are located in downtown Vancouver, next to world famous Stanley Park and is on trendy Robson Street, fantastic restaurants, interesting shops and quaint boutiques. Each unit in the Residence has single and double rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen . Boys and Girls are placed separately by units. Amenities: coin laundry, pool table, free wireless internet, cable TV, equipped kitchen, spacious rooms, beds, closets, desks, chairs, sofas, heat, gas and hydro. Walking distance to school: 10 minutes. Minimum stay of 4 weeks.

1. Available housing that can be easily arranged by our School: Dormitory; Apartment or Hotel. Special Strengths in Hotels (economy, moderate or deluxe) and furnished Apartments with walking distance to School. Best rates available and excellent choices for adult or executive students who are not interested in Homestays!!

8. Distance Between Airport and School: 25 minutes by taxi (average $30); 40-min by airport bus
First Day of School
1. First day for new students: Must be at school by 09:00am!

2. Orientation and testing schedule: Depends on volume of students and/or program’s itinerary for that day. Normally 2 hours long, followed by interview and walking tour)

3. Class on First day? Not in the morning, however students can start afternoon classes, if applicable.

4. Contents of Level Assessment Test: It takes about 30 minutes of computer testing, with 40 multiple answers, levels 1 through 6.

5. What to Bring to School? Pen, Notepad, Dictionary(optional), Passport and Medical Insurance Document. (if student doesn’t have medical insurance, School can provide one at $25/week)

6. Textbook: Deposit of $CAD40. Amount is fully-refundable at end of course
