From week 1-4, students will watch a variety of films, starting with earlier silent movies and moving chronologically up to present day.
For example: Metropolis 1926,
War of the Worlds 1954,
2001: A Space Odyssey,
Star Wars 1977
Typically 2 movies per week each split over 2 days.
Future units may look at different genres such as War, Romance, Horror or focus on themes such as Racism, or Women’s Rights. |

| Assessment Basis |
| After each film, students are expected to discuss the main themes in groups and as a class. Written summaries are expected each week showing the contrasting styles of that week and previous weeks’ films. |
| Outcomes |
| Students can appreciate different genre of film and the changes between them over the years. Students will be able to encapsulate the main idea and theme of a film and both discuss and write about it. |
